Use of opioid treatment medications buprenorphine and naloxone to manage addiction and overdoses is on the rise, according to HHS research released Friday.
There was a nearly 20% increase in the past year in the number of health providers with waivers for prescribing buprenorphine to treat opioid use disorder. The number of prescriptions filled by pharmacies for the opioid overdose reversal drug naloxone have gone up by 37%.
