Abortion Protesters Lose Bid to Halt Buffer Zone Enforcement

Abortion protesters in Pennsylvania’s capital may not come within 20 feet of a health-care facility entrance following a decision by a federal trial court (Reilly v. City of Harrisburg, 2016 BL 284621, M.D. Pa., Civ. No. 1:16-CV-0510, 8/31/16).

The U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania Aug. 31 denied the protesters’ bid to halt enforcement of a Harrisburg, Pa., buffer zone ordinance. The ordinance prohibits individuals—other than law enforcement officers and the facilities’ employees—from knowingly congregating, patrolling, picketing or demonstrating within a 20-foot buffer zone around the facilities’ entrances.
