A coalition of Senate Democrats is pressuring the abortion pill’s brand-name manufacturer to add miscarriage management to the drug’s label in the face of state laws limiting access.
The group—led by Mazie K. Hirono (D-Hawaii), Maggie Hassan (D-N.H.), and Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass)—wrote in a letter dated Wednesday to Danco Laboratories that because miscarriage management isn’t currently included on the approved label for mifepristone, “health care providers are left without clear legal guidance,” and “patients experiencing early pregnancy loss who need mifepristone cannot easily access this critical treatment, placing them at risk of serious injury and death.”
