Abortion Doctor Admitting Privileges Rule Revived in Louisiana

A Louisiana law requiring doctors who perform abortions to have active admitting privileges at hospitals within 30 miles of their facilities can go into effect now that the US Supreme Court has overturned Roe v. Wade, a federal judge said.

Judge John W. deGravelles of the US District Court for the Middle District of Louisiana vacated a five-year-old permanent injunction that had blocked the state from enforcing the law. The injunction is no longer equitable following a “significant change in the law” brought about by the Supreme Court’s decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, he said. ...
