Abbott Cuts Temp Workers as Covid-19 Testing Plummets

Abbott Laboratories is laying off temporary workers as the company prepares for a steep decline in Covid-19 testing this year.

The Abbott Park, Illinois-based company is cutting the vast majority of its temporary workforce at a facility in Westbrook, Maine, spokesperson Scott Stoffel said in an email. Stoffel declined to disclose how many workers would be impacted by the layoffs. Abbott employs about 115,000 people overall.
