11th Circuit Rejects Doctors’ Challenge To Florida Firearm Owners’ Privacy Law

Florida doctors may not ask patients about gun ownership or include such information in a patient’s medical chart, a federal appeals court said July 25 in a split decision upholding certain provisions of the state’s Firearm Owners’ Privacy Act (Wollschlaeger v. Governor of Fla., 11th Cir., 12-14009, 7/25/14).

Attorneys and physicians nationwide have been watching the case, known popularly as the “docs v. glocks case,” as it might have ramifications beyond Florida.
