Whistleblower Caught Stealing Still Gets $114,000 Recovery

A False Claims Act whistleblower, who pleaded guilty for stealing from Georgia doctors, is entitled to the minimum 15% share of a settlement between OrthoGeorgia and the federal government, the Middle District of Georgia said.

Melissa Zediker, who received a minimum five year prison sentence, will receive $114,000 of the government’s $760,000 settlement with the federal government, said Judge Marc T. Treadwell of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Georgia.

Zediker filed her suit accusing her former employer OrthoGeorgia and others of violating Medicare billing rules between the time of her arrest and indictment, the court said. ...
