Whistleblower Attorneys Told to Explain ‘Fabricated’ Quotations

Attorneys representing the plaintiff in a whistleblower retaliation suit against Athena Construction Group Inc. must explain by Aug. 1 why a federal court shouldn’t sanction them for making false statements.

Vickie Smith’s July 23 court filing to oppose Athena’s motion to continue trial cites cases for a false proposition of law, has case citations “accompanied by quotations that are fabricated,” and has one case citation that doesn’t exist and has a fabricated supporting quotation, Judge Amit P. Mehta of the US District Court for the District of Columbia said in a July 26 order.
