Walgreens Whistleblowers Drop Pennsylvania Medicaid Suit (1)

Two whistleblowers ended their False Claims Act suit against Walgreen Co. alleging that the company billed Pennsylvania’s Medicaid program for drug prescriptions without ensuring beneficiaries lacked other available insurance coverage.

The parties filed a stipulation of dismissal Saturday with the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. The case is now closed, according to the docket.

Counsel for Walgreens declined to comment. Counsel for the whistleblowers didn’t immediately respond to a request for comments.

Juliet Mbabazi, a pharmacist, and Khaldoun Cherdoud, a Medicaid beneficiary, sued Walgreens in May 2019.
