Walgreens Defrauded Virginia Medicaid, Feds’ Complaint Says

Walgreen Co. bilked hundreds of thousands of dollars from Virginia’s Medicaid program by submitting false claims for hepatits C drugs , federal prosecutors and Virginia say in a new complaint filed in federal court.

Walgreens, acting through Kingsport, Tenn., store manager and pharmacist Amber Reilly, knowingly presented or caused to be presented materially false information to the Virginia Department of Medical Assistance Services, the complaint says. At least 12 enrollees without proper Medicaid authorization received the drugs, according to the complaint filed Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Virginia.
