Virginia Company Settles $2 Million False Claims Allegations

A Virginia-based tactical gear and equipment company will pay close to $2.1 million for allegedly violating the the False Claims Act when selling textile-based products to the Department of Defense, according to a Monday news release.

London Bridge Trading Co. Ltd. allegedly submitted false claims in relation to the sale of “American-made” goods to the federal government. The items, however, were actually manufactured in foreign countries including Peru, Mexico, and China, DOJ said.

Such alleged conduct violates the Berry Amendment, which requires certain items purchased by the DOD to be 100% domestic in origin, the DOJ said.
