Veterans Affairs Weighs Dropping ID.me as Scrutiny Grows (2)

The Department of Veterans Affairs is reconsidering its use of identity verification software ID.me, a spokesman said, amid growing public scrutiny of the company’s collection of selfies from tens of millions of Americans.

The VA uses ID.me, along with two other digital credential options, to verify the identity of veterans on its website, said Gary Kunich, a VA spokesman. It doesn’t use ID.me’s facial recognition features, Kunich said.
