VA Contractor Gets $1.5 Million Over Terminated Virginia Project

CTA I LLC can recover nearly $1.5 million over the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs’ termination of a construction project contract at a medical facility in Richmond, Va., the Civilian Board of Contract Appeals said.

The VA terminated the contract for convenience of the government in January 2019, almost 21 months after the original contract completion date, the board said.

The parties “disagree sharply about the project’s critical path,” but the $1.5 million recovery is proper under the termination-for-convenience clause incorporated into the contract, Judge Kyle Chadwick said in a Tuesday opinion.
