US Capitol Security Award Withstands Paragon Systems’ Protest

Asset Protection and Security Services LP can proceed with a blanket purchase agreement from US Capitol Police to provide unarmed security guard services on Capitol grounds, the GAO said in a decision released Friday.

Capitol Police since 2021 “experienced an unanticipated surge of resignations and retirements, which saw its workforce significantly and unexpectedly reduced,” the US Government Accountability Office said.

To meet its need for additional security, Capitol Police awarded two sole-source contracts in 2022 for unarmed security guards, one of which, was awarded to protester Paragon Systems Inc., the GAO said.
