The US has approved the sale of AIM-120 AMRAAM missiles to Romania for about $180m and the option to purchase additional missiles in the future, according to an emailed statement from the US Embassy in Bucharest.
- The sale is part of the Romanian air force’s efforts to upgrade its military equipment, as the AIM-120 missiles are compatible with Romania’s F-16 fighter jets and other U.S. and NATO aircraft including F-35 jets
