University of South Carolina Accused of Research Grant Fraud (1)

Two false claims whistleblowers accuse the University of South Carolina of violating the False Claims Act by providing falsified research results to the National Institutes of Health in grant reports and applications, according to a complaint unsealed by a North Carolina federal court.

Rosemarie M. Booze and Charles F. Mactutus, both professors at the university, contend that the school and others are responsible for providing false reports about behavioral research concerning nicotine dependence in rats in claims for payment submitted to NIH, the complaint filed with the U.S. District Court for the Western District of North Carolina says.
