Top 20: Army Designs $50 Billion IT Setup as NASA Pauses SEWP VI

The promise and pitfalls of consolidating work on large federal contracts were underscored when the Army launched and NASA paused massive solicitations within days of one another.

The dual moves remind vendors that long-term success in the federal marketplace depends on diversified contract portfolios and sources of revenue.

In an Aug. 12 press release, the Army formally announced its consolidation of recompetes on two current contracts, Information Technology Enterprise Services – 3 (ITES–3S) and Responsible Strategic Sourcing for Services (RS3), into a new $50 billion vehicle called Marketplace for the Acquisition of Professional Services.
