Baptist Memorial Health Care Corp. must defend itself against a False Claims Act suit alleging it retaliated against a nurse practitioner who raised concerns about alleged billing fraud, a federal court in Tennessee said.
Baptist Memorial Health Care Corp. failed to prove it wasn’t Margaret Allgood’s employer, Judge Samuel H. Mays Jr. of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Tennessee said in a Monday opinion. Allgood worked for the company’s wholly owned subsidiary and co-defendant Baptist Memorial Medical Group Inc., the court said.
