Standard Chartered Whistleblower Loses Bid to Reopen Fraud Suit

A whistleblower failed to show that a False Claims Act suit alleging that Standard Chartered Bank made misrepresentations about banned transactions with Iranian entities should be revived, a federal court said Wednesday.

Whistleblower Brutus Trading LLC said May 31 that a New York federal district court should vacate its 2020 decision to dismiss the suit. Brutus said that the government’s false statements to the court about evidence of the bank’s conduct “corrupted the integrity of this judicial proceeding to its very core,” according to its motion to vacate the dismissal.
