Software Company Loses Bid to Revive Contract, Copyright Claims

HealtheState LLC failed to show the US Court of Federal Claims erred by rejecting claims the government committed copyright infringement or breached a contract by misusing software to support US Army veterinarians, an appeals court said Friday.

The claims court reasonably rejected the contract breach claim because the medical software company didn’t satisfy Contract Disputes Act requirements that it provide a clear statement addressing the basis for and amount of a claim, Judge Jimmie V. Reyna of the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit said in a nonprecedential opinion to affirm.
