SMIC, ChangXin Memory Chips Face Ban in Proposed US Agency Rule

The US proposes that some federal agencies be prohibited from acquiring products and services using semiconductors from certain Chinese firms, including Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation, according to a notice posted in the Federal Register.

  • Chip products made by ChangXin Memory Technologies and Yangtze Memory Technologies Corp are included in the ban
  • Rule would be effective Dec. 23, 2027
