Senate Offers $1 Billion More in R&D Than House in Defense Bill

Contractors working on research and development for the Pentagon could get a boost in proposed funding from the Senate with an extra $1 billion proposed in its defense policy bill (S. 2226) over both the House and Biden administration’s proposed spending.

The House was originally scheduled to finish debate and final votes on its bill this week. The Senate is expected to start consideration next week.

The Senate is looking to authorize $146.2 billion for R&D, compared to $145.2 billion proposed in the House version (H.R. 2670) and the nearly $145 billion requested by the administration. ...
