San Francisco Art Academy Fraud Trial Pushed Back to 2021

Four whistleblowers and False Claims Act defendant Academy of Art University in San Francisco showed good cause to push their April 27 trial date back to March 1, 2021, a California federal court said.

Judge Phyllis J. Hamilton of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California granted Monday the parties’ joint motion to change the trial date, which said mediation sessions have “significantly advanced settlement discussions to date.”

The motion also said the university has “acted diligently” but that a settlement would require examining financial information that wouldn’t be available until after the April 27 trial date. ...
