Ruger Data Breach Class Action Paused for Mediation, Judge Says

A proposed class action alleging that gun maker Sturm, Ruger & Co. and its website host Freestyle Software Inc. failed to protect the personal information of thousands of consumers is stayed so the parties can engage in mediation.

Mediation is scheduled for Oct. 8, and the parties must file a joint status report regarding the status of settlement efforts by Oct. 14, Magistrate Judge S. Dave Vattiof the US District Court for the District of Connecticut said in a Thursday order, according to the docket. The parties asked the court for the stay Aug. 19.
