A pathologist can continue to allege that University of Rochester Medical Center violated the False Claims Act by firing her in retaliation for calling attention to federal grant fraud, a court said.
She adequately alleged that URMC terminated her research appointment after confronting the chair of the medical center’s Pathology Department about false certifications associated with her grant requirements, Judge Frank P. Geraci Jr. of the US District Court for the Western District of New York said. His Tuesday opinion denied URMC’s motion for summary judgment.
