Cameron-Ehlen Group, Inc., which does business as Precision Lens, and its owner Paul Ehlen, have been found liable by a jury for $43 million of violations of the False Claims Act and Anti-Kickback Statute, the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Minnesota said in a press statement on Tuesday.
The company and its owner paid kickbacks, often in the form of entertainment and travel, to ophthalmic surgeons to induce their use of Precision Lens products in cataract surgeries reimbursed by Medicare, according to the prosecutor’s office.
