Pratt & Whitney Defeats Whistleblower’s Jet Engine Fraud Suit

Pratt & Whitney no longer has to face a False Claims Act suit alleging fraud under a jet engine parts support contract for the US Air Force worth billions of dollars.

Whistleblower Peter J. Bonzani Jr. named United Technologies Corp. and its former subsidiary Pratt as defendants in his suit filed in 2016. Pratt became an incorporated division of Raytheon Technologies Corp. after United and Raytheon merged in 2020.

Bonzani alleged that Pratt submitted false claims to the government because it failed to follow procedures for spray-coating and sealing jet parts, specifically integrally bladed rotors used on F-22 fighter jets. ...
