Planned Parenthood Federation of America Inc. convinced a Texas federal district court to halt a whistleblower’s Medicaid fraud claims pending an appeal of a decision that would have sent the case to trial.
The court ruled on Oct. 23 that Planned Parenthood wasn’t immune from the False Claims Act suit, rejecting the argument that the involvement of Planned Parenthood attorneys in the submission of allegedly false claims to Texas and Louisiana Medicaid programs triggered the litigation privilege and attorney immunity.
