Pentagon Contracts in European NATO Region Set to Top Last Year

Defense Department unclassified contract work performed in European NATO countries continues to climb in fiscal 2023 and is likely to exceed last year’s $7.5 billion total.

Of the two newest named members of NATO, Sweden draws more DOD contract dollars than Finland, but the value of work performed in Finland increased by a factor of 10 between fiscal 2021 and fiscal 2022.

In Sweden, most Pentagon contracts so far in fiscal 2023 have been for weapons and ammunition, with Saab pulling in three quarters of the $35.9 million year-to-date.
