Kinemetrics Inc. failed to show that the Air Force unreasonably awarded Nanometrics Inc. a $10 million contract for seismic equipment used to monitor nuclear treaty compliance under a “relatively novel procurement method,” the U.S. Court of Federal Claims said.
The Air Force selected Nanometrics under a Commercial Solutions Opening Acquisition, which included an iterative initial proposal and peer review process.
The court can’t overturn results of the peer review of specialized scientific equipment that is subject to a high degree of judicial deference, Judge Charles F. Lettow said in an opinion released Sept. 17.
