Midsouth Paving Unable to Stop False Claims Retaliation Lawsuit

A former employee can go to trial on allegations that Alabama-based Midsouth Paving Inc. unlawfully fired him in retaliation for calling attention to fraud under federally funded transportation projects, a federal district court said.

Derrick Wiggins presented evidence that he had a reasonable belief Midsouth submitted false reports about asphalt quality to the government, and that Midsouth fired him for reporting and opposing that alleged conduct, the US District Court for the Northern District of Alabama said Tuesday.
