Medtronic, Whistleblower Resolve Medical Device Fraud Lawsuit

Medtronic Inc., Covidien LP, and others settled a nine-year False Claims Act suit alleging the company submitted kickback-tainted medical device claims to the government for payment.

The defendants and whistleblower Thomas Schroeder filed Wednesday a joint stipulation of dismissal with the US District Court for the District of Kansas. The government consented to the dismissal.

Terms of the settlement weren’t made available. Counsel for Medtronic and Covidien declined to comment. Counsel for the other parties didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.
