Lennar Prevails in San Francisco Shipyard Legal Costs Dispute

The US government must pay Lennar Corp. $119,096 for costs the property developer incurred defending a lawsuit related to the cleanup of hazardous substances at Hunters Point Naval Shipyard in San Francisco.

Lennar and subsidiary HPS Development Co. showed that the US Department of Defense’s denial of the costs request violated Section 330 of the National Defense Authorization Act of 1993, Judge Elaine D. Kaplan of the US Court of Federal Claims said in an opinion made public Monday.
