L3Harris, Air Taxi Maker Joby Partner on Military Aircraft (1)

L3Harris Technologies Inc. is working with air taxi maker Joby Aviation to develop a new class of aircraft for defensive applications, with flight testing planned for as soon as later this year.

The two companies plan to cooperate on a military grade version of Joby’s commercial market-targeted vertical take-off and landing aircraft, they said Friday in a joint statement. The gas-electric hybrid powered craft are designed for low-altitude missions and to be flown with or without a pilot, they said.
