Konecranes Gets $4.9 Million in Portal Cranes Dispute With Navy

Konecranes Nuclear Equipment Services LLC is entitled to $4.9 million from the US Navy for delays under a $62.2 million contract to deliver portal cranes at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard.

The Navy’s refusal to accept delivery, after Konecranes corrected defects to a luffing drum revealed in an initial test of one of the cranes, resulted in compensable delays, Administrative Judge Daniel S. Herzfeld of the Armed Services Board of Contract Appeals said.
