KBR Kickbacks Case Should Stay in Illinois, U.S. Says

False Claims Act litigation accusing Kellogg Brown & Root Inc. of paying kickbacks related to contract work in Iraq shouldn’t move from Illinois to Texas, Justice Department attorneys told a federal court in Illinois.

KBR hasn’t demonstrated that Texas is clearly more convenient than Illinois and that a transfer of venue would serve the interests of justice, the government told the U.S. District Court for the Central District of Illinois.

Whistleblower Bud Conyers started this litigation 12 years ago, accusing KBR of paying kickbacks and improperly billing the government under an Iraq logistics support contract.
