KBR Entitled to $8 Million From Subcontractor in Iraq Dispute

Kellogg Brown & Root International Inc. was awarded $8 million in an Iraq logistics contract dispute with its subcontractor, First Kuwaiti Trading & Contracting W.L.L.

This recovery for KBR constitutes a proper calculation of various contract offsets, Judge Anthony J. Trenga of the US District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia said in a Sept. 22 order.

First Kuwaiti sued Jan. 5 seeking to vacate an arbitration decision finding that KBR didn’t owe First Kuwaiti $49 million in costs. The court on May 12 said the motion must be dismissed because First Kuwaiti didn’t satisfy the three-month filing period ...
