The US Department of Justice and North Carolina State Board of Elections settled a lawsuit accusing the state agency of failing to maintain an accurate voter list required by the Help America Vote Act of 2002.
The board, which used a list that included records that didn’t comply with the act, will now fully comply, according to a Monday consent judgment and order from Judge Richard E. Myers II of the US District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina. The case is now closed.
