Iraq Immunity From Breach Suit Should Stand, US Tells High Court

The US Supreme Court should let stand Iraq’s immunity from a contract breach suit and a $121 million damages recovery, the US government said.

The US Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit correctly concluded that Wye Oak Technology Inc. couldn’t recover damages from Iraq, because the Foreign Sovereign Immunities Act protects the country from the suit, D. John Sauer, US solicitor general, said in an amicus brief filed Monday.
