Imaginarium Loses Suit Seeking Pandemic Program Grant Funding

Live-event production company Imaginarium LLC lost its bid to receive $1.6 million under the federal government’s Shuttered Venue Operators Grant program, which was enacted to help entertainment businesses during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Imaginarium asserted that the Small Business Administration, the agency that administered the program, breached their contract by denying the company’s grant application.

But the complaint must be dismissed for failure to state a claim because the parties didn’t have a contract, Judge Eleni M. Roumel of the US Court of Federal Claims said in a Wednesday opinion.
