Humana Whistleblower Gets $31 Million in Attorneys’ Fees, Costs

A whistleblower that helped the US government secure a $90 million settlement in a drug fraud suit against Humana Inc. will receive nearly $31 million in attorneys’ fees and costs.

A federal magistrate judge reasonably considered national, local, and historical fee rates in his review of the the whistleblower’s costs claim, Chief Judge Greg N. Stivers of the US District Court for the Western District of Kentucky said in an order made public Tuesday. Stivers adopted the magistrate judge’s report and commendation.
