Holy Redeemer, Whistleblower Have Deal to Resolve Fraud Claims

Holy Redeemer Healthcare System Inc. and a whistleblower have agreed to settle a False Claims Act case alleging that the company engaged in an upcoding scheme to improperly bill Medicare and Medicaid for health-care services.

Whistleblower Mark Schieber and Holy Redeemer, as well as Holy Redeemer Home Care Inc. and Holy Redeemer Hospice, filed Oct. 30 a stipulation and consent to dismissal. Judge Claire C. Cecchi, of the US District Court for the District of New Jersey, issued Thursday a 60-day order administratively terminating the action pending consummation of a settlement.
