HCA Healthcare Stops Whistleblower’s Physical Therapy Fraud Suit

HCA Healthcare Inc. and others defeated a False Claims Act whistleblower’s claims that they improperly billed federal healthcare programs for physical therapy services because the complaint lacked sufficient detail, a Kansas federal court said Monday.

Edward Ernst Jr. failed to provide details about actual claims submitted by defendants to Medicare and Tricare. He merely alleged a date range for services provided under allegedly fraudulent schemes, Judge John W. Lungstrum of the U.S. District Court for the District of Kansas said.
