Golden Dome Is Warning System for Hypersonic Missiles, Reed Says

President Donald Trump’s Golden Dome missile defense umbrella is more of “a warning system” to detect and shoot down hypersonic weapons as soon as they launch, the top Democrat on the Senate Armed Services Committee said.

Golden Dome—a network of space-based interceptors—is the president’s priority, but the Defense Department and White House have offered few specifics regarding the system’s architecture, timelines and cost.
