General Medicine Accused of Nursing Home Visit Fraud by Feds

Michigan-based General Medicine PC and others allegedly engaged in a yearslong healthcare fraud scheme, under which it billed Medicare for visits with nursing home residents that weren’t performed or were medically unnecessary, federal prosecutors said in a new complaint.

The defendants received tens of millions of dollars in violation of the False Claims Act under a scheme “to bill as many patient visits as possible,” the government said in a complaint filed Wednesday with the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois.
