Broadband service provider Frontier West Virginia Inc. has agreed to pay the US government almost $18 million, including attorneys’ fees, to settle a False Claims Act alleging that it improperly sought payments under a broadband technology program.
Whistleblower Citynet LLC and Frontier filed a joint stipulation of settlement with the US District Court for the Southern of West Virginia on Monday. The parties said they anticipate the US will consent to the dismissal of the action on those terms. The government declined to intervene in the case in 2016.
