Former Nokia Engineer Loses Bid to Revive Whistleblower Claims

Nokia of America Corp. and a manager for the company defeated a former engineer’s attempt to revive his lawsuit alleging they violated several whistleblower statutes.

Plaintiff Kenneth Del Signore alleged, for example, that Nokia manager Christy Gliori violated the False Claims Act by firing him in retaliation for complaining about Nokia’s alleged overbilling of a federal fund established to promote universal access to telecommunications services.

But a federal district court properly granted the defendants summary judgment in May 2023, the US Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit said in a nonprecedential opinion Friday.
