For-Profit College Defeats Government’s Fraud Claims at Trial

The US government failed to convince a jury that Stevens-Henager College Inc. violated the False Claims Act by not complying with a US Department of Education rule banning incentive-based compensation for recruiters.

Judge Jill N. Parrish of the US District Court for the District of Utah May 2 entered judgment in favor of Stevens-Henager and successor-in-interest Center for Excellence in Higher Education, and against the US government. The parties didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.
