A national education organization says the US Department of Education is unlawfully relying on the Trump Administration’s anti-diversity, equity, and inclusion policies to deny federal education grants that help low-income students.
The department’s decision to deny Student Support Services grant applications, which included statements about equity, violates the Administrative Procedure Act, the Council for Opportunity in Education told the US District Court for the District of Columbia in a Tuesday complaint.
President Donald Trump’s executive orders, issued earlier this year, directed the department and other agencies to eliminate DEI policies from all aspects of the federal government.
