The U.S. Justice Department recovered over $3 billion in False Claims Act cases in fiscal year 2019, $2.6 billion of which came from cases involving the health-care industry.
The DOJ has now recovered more than $62 billion since the 1986 amendments to the act, the DOJ said in a Jan. 9 announcement.
Whistleblowers filed 633 FCA suits in 2019, and the DOJ recovered over $2.1 billion in these and earlier-filed suits, the DOJ said.
